‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’: Synopsis For New Film Confirms The Return Of This Legacy Character
It’s the most wonderful time of year: chainsaw season. It felt like we went ages without as much of a gasoline whiff of an update. Then, in matter of three days, all of that changed. On Friday, we had our first look at Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre, followed the next day by a grisly trailer debut.
Now, it seems that we have our first official detailed synopsis for the all new film. The plot confirms previous teases surrounding the return of a legacy character. The reboot will also be a direct sequel to the very first film.
Check out the synopsis, courtesy of Bloody Disgusting:
“Melody her teenage sister Lila and their friends Dante and Ruth head to the remote town of Texas. “Melody (Sarah Yarkin), her teenage sister Lila (Elsie Fisher), and their friends Dante (Jacob Latimore) and Ruth (Nell Hudson), head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents—including Sally Hardesty (Olwen Fouéré), the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.”
You’ll remember horror producer Fede Álvarez from directing the Evil Dead reboot in 2013, and from creating the divisive Don’t Breathe franchise. The shock-house filmmaker is back on the scene by producing Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a direct sequel to the original Tobe Hooper joint.
Directed by David Blue Garcia and written by Chris Thomas Devlin, the all-new entry into the Texas Chainsaw cannon is sure to be a brutal romp.
The cast for the new film features some exciting Hollywood newcomers, including Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Nell Hudson, and Jacob Latimore. They play a group of young people who accidentally find themselves off of the main road while traveling away from the big city.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre will hit Netflix February 18, 2022.
