COCAINE BEAR – The Cast is Set for This Drug Thriller

That’s a helluva title, isn’t it? Cocaine Bear. That sounds crazy. Bears are already scary. Bears with cocaine habits? Even scarier. This film is the third directorial effort from Elizabeth Banks. You might remember Banks from the long-running Pitch Perfect series. She directed the second entry, securing the record for highest-grossing directorial debut.
Elizabeth Banks to Direct Thriller COCAINE BEAR About Bear Who Does Tons of Cocaine
The film is due to start shooting in Ireland in August. Banks has rounded up a pretty amazing cast. Keri Russell, O’Shea Jackson, Ray Liotta, Alden Ehrenreich and Jesse Tyler Ferguson will star in Cocaine Bear. We don’t have a synopsis, but I can take a guess. The film is probably based on the real life story of Pablo Escobear, who tore open and ate 75 lbs of cocaine that had been dropped during a plane crash, before dying from what I can only assume was a massive heart attack.
This all happened in Kentucky in 1985. The story of this ursine addict is definitely one deserving of a film. After it’s body was found, it was taxidermied and put up in the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. It was moved to storage and later disappeared. It eventually showed up at a pawn shop and was bought by country music star Waylon Jennings. Nowadays, the ill-fated fellow is on display at the Kentucky for Kentucky Fun Mall.
