A recent THR article reports: “Legendary has been taking steps into horror — it has a remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre titled Texas Chainsaw Begins in post.

The MPAA has slapped it with an R-rating for “strong bloody horror violence and gore, and language.” Sounds good to us!

Texas Chainsaw Begins will bring back Sally Hardesty. Mark Burnham (Lowlife) plays new Leatherface, taking over from original actor Gunnar Hansen. In addition to Burnham, Olwen Fouéré (Mandy, Sea Fever) takes over the role of original Sally. Marilyn Burns passed away in 2014. David Blue Garcia directs the new film from a screenplay written by Chris Thomas Devlin. Elsie Fisher stars along with Sarah Yarkin, Moe Dunford, Alice Krige. Jacob Latimore joins with Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Sam Douglas, William Hope, and also Jolyon Coy.

Texas Chainsaw Begins wrapped last year. Plot details are locked in a meat fridge somewhere. But we do know it will feature all practical gore FX. Plus it also takes place in the present with Leatherface as an old man. Sounds good!

In the meantime, remember co-writer/director Tobe Hopper’s original began when Sally (Marilyn Burns) hears her grandfather’s grave has been robbed. She set out with their friends and her paraplegic dickhead brother, Franklin (Paul A. Partain) to investigate. After a detour to their family’s old farmhouse, they discover a group of crazed, murderous outcasts living next door. They fall prey one by one to the chainsaw-wielding Leatherface (Gunnar Hansen). A hulking madman who wears a mask of human skin, the survivors must do everything they can to escape.
