Ethan Hawke Will Play the Villain in Marvel’s New MOON KNIGHT Series

The Endless and Synchronic filmmakers Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead will helm episodes of Marvel’s upcoming Moon Knight series with Oscar Isaac. And today we hear Ethan Hawke will play the main villain. Sounds good to us!

There’s isn’t currently word on just who Hawke will be playing. That said, we do know that the show will begin shooting in Budapest in March.

Benson and Moorhead join Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab (Clash) as directors of the series. Benson and Moorhead will direct several episodes. Diab also serves as the showrunner. Jeremy Slater (The Exorcist) is leading the writer’s room.

Moon Knight is one of Marvel’s cult characters. He debuted in 1975’s Werewolf by Night #32. He is Marc Spector, an ex-Marine turned mercenary whose multiple alter egos allow him to better fight crime. These alternate personas include cabbie Jake Lockley and millionaire playboy Steven Grant. In the later comics, he is a conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, while recently, he was a consultant who dresses in all white and goes by the name Mr. Knight. In recent years Moon Knight is a character with multiple personalities and a fractured mental state.

Hawke recently wrapped Robert Eggers’s Viking revenge saga The Northman with Anya-Taylor-Joy, Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, and Björk.
