28 MONTHS LATER: Imogen Poots Up For 28 DAYS/WEEKS LATER Sequel

Just like the rest of the world, Fright Night and Green Room star Imogen Poots is up for 28 Months Later, the long-awaited sequel to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later.

She tells MovieWeb: “Oh, it’s such an interesting idea to think about. It’s weird. I think about that movie like a first love because it was really the first foray I had into acting and obviously was lucky enough to be with Rose Byrne and Jeremy Renner. All of these incredible actors.

She adds: “But yeah, absolutely. I mean, the team behind that. Alex Garland and Danny Boyle. Everyone’s really… Well, Danny Boyle was already Danny Boyle, but everyone has gone on to do such amazing things. I want that director Juan Carlos Fresnadillodo to do some more work. He’s so exceptional. But yeah, I love that film.”

28 Weeks Later kicked off six months after the original epidemic with the rage virus has all but annihilated the population of the British Isles but the U.S. Army declares the danger past, and soldiers arrive to restore order and begin reconstruction. Refugees return to British soil, but one of them carries a deadly secret: The virus is not gone and is even more dangerous than before.

It was directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (Intruders) from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Rowan Joffe, E. L. Lavigne, and Jesus Olmo. Enrique López-Lavigne produced with Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich. It starred Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner, Harold Perrineau, Catherine McCormack, Imogen Poots, Mackintosh Muggleton, and Idris Elba.

Rated R for strong violence and gore, language and some sexuality/nudity, 20th Century Fox released it back on May 11, 2007. The film sports a 71% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: While 28 Weeks Later lacks the humanism that made 28 Days Later a classic, it’s made up with fantastic atmosphere and punchy direction.
