Back in 2018 we reviewed Ripper Tour, a creepy short film which starred none other than legendary horror actress Lynn Lowry. It’s been a while since it premiered at the Phoenix Arts Club in January of 2018, but the short is now available to view on YouTube in its entirety. So if you’re looking for an interesting new take on the Jack the Ripper mythos, you can view Ripper Tour in the player below.
Set in modern day, Ripper Tour follows Jackie Butcher, a cult horror actress played by Lowry, as she investigates the locations across London where Jack the Ripper committed his terrible crimes while live streaming to her countless adoring fans. What she doesn’t realise, however, is that although he committed his murders over a century ago, the legend of Jack the Ripper is still very much alive and out for blood.
Ripper Tour was written and directed by Jason Read and produced by Stuart Morriss through his Misty Moon production company. Alongside Lowry, the eight minute short also stars Christopher Walker, Jennifer Morriss, Charlotte Mounter, Samantha Oci, Stuart Green, and Martin Rudman. While Dudley Sutton, who passed away in September of 2018, also appears in one of his last performances as Jack the Ripper.
Read and Morris also collaborated on last year’s Ready For My Close Up (review), which once again starred Lynn Lowry. As well as producing, Morriss also serves as the curator of the Misty Moon Film Society, which hosts film-related events across London, while Read offers guitar tutorials on his YouTube channel, which now has a combined total of over fourteen million views. Lowry, on the other hand, previously appeared in horror classics such as I Drink Your Blood, The Crazies, Shivers, and Cat People, so horror fans will already be familiar with her work.
