Confirmed: Bill Murray Returns for GHOSTBUSTERS 2020

Up in the Air and Thank You For Smoking director Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters 2020 starring Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, and Paul Rudd hits in July 2020.
And today we have word via Ray Stantz AKA Dan Aykroyd himself that Bill Murray will 100% be returning as Peter Venkman!
Aykroyd tells The Greg Hill Radio Show: “Jason Reitman wrote a beautiful, heartfelt script that takes the real DNA from the first two movies and transfers that directly to the third. The next generation hands the legacy off to a new generation of stars and players and actors and characters. We’ve shot our part, myself, Murray, Sigourney, and Annie Potts, and it was really exciting working on this new idea. A new take on the story, which Jason, who’s a really incredible and fine filmmaker, came up with.”
He continues on to say that: “I’m pretty excited. … You don’t know what’s gonna be a hit or not, but I have really good feelings for this, just because of the quality of the stars we’ve got there. We’ve got some really terrific young actors, and a great story, a great setting. It’s gonna be scary, it’s gonna be thought-provoking, it’s gonna be very heartfelt. You’ll feel it, if you have loved ones that you miss and you’ve lost and you want to get back with, it’s gonna be evocative in that way.”

Jason Reitman directs Ghostbusters 2020 from a screenplay he wrote along with Gil Kenan (Monster House) based on the original film written by Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, and Ivan Reitman. Ivan Reitman produces and the film stars Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, Paul Rudd, Logan Kim, Celeste O’Connor, Oliver Cooper, and Bokeem Woodbine.
It will also see the return of original Ghostbusters cast including Bill Murray as Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd as Raymond Stantz, Ernie Hudson as Winston Zeddemore, Sigourney Weaver as Dana Barrett, and Annie Potts as Janine Melnitz.
Ghostbusters 2020 is scheduled to be released in the United States via Sony Pictures Releasing on July 10, 2020.
