Ready for Some High Hell? Announcing Dread Central’s Latest Streaming Series: CHRONIC HORROR!

This isn’t just the beginning of a new month, it’s the beginning of a bold new chapter in Dread Central’s history. In an effort to bring our readers the kind of exciting and original content they’re requesting, we’re proud to announce Chronic Horror, our latest streaming series! What’s Chronic Horror, you ask?
Chronic Horror is a short form interview series that crosses the streams of the worlds of horror filmmaking, horror fandom, and cannabis culture. Join our host Josh Millican, a cannabis and horror expert who takes you on a ride full of laughs and enlightenment.
“When I was told Dread Central was looking for more streaming content in an effort to forge a new identity, I decided to pitch this idea I’d been kicking around for a while,” Josh Millican explains. “Thankfully, Epic Pictures’ CEO Patrick Ewald was confident enough to back me, and Chronic Horror was born!
“The next step in bringing this zany vision to life was finding the right director and producer. That’s when Patrick hooked me up with the dynamic duo, Hank Braxtan and Arielle Braxton (Snake Outta Compton). I couldn’t have done it without them!”
Says Hank Braxtan: “Josh pitched me the idea for Chronic Horror and I said ‘Yes’.
“The first few episodes were a lot of fun to be a part of, and I think we’ve made a show that is cool, even if we still use the term ‘lit’. Ha ha ha! But honestly, it’s been a great experience and we’ve really tried to approach it with an open mind, embracing an evolving landscape where cannabis is being decriminalized more and more. One of the biggest challenges we’ve had in making the show is convincing the abundance of filmmakers, especially horror filmmakers, who regularly use cannabis, to admit to it on a TV show. I think there are a lot of folks who still can’t get past the societal stigma, so they still prefer to keep it on the down low. I think one filmmaker told us ‘My mom still doesn’t know I smoke weed, so I’m trying to keep it that way’.”
Arielle Braxtan adds: “Through Chronic Horror, Dread Central is yet again breaking new ground in the horror genre by allowing fans to interact with horror culture and filmmakers in a whole new way, while breaking through a stigma still present in our society.”
Each week, Josh will be joined by his undead dummy/sidekick “Mr. Munchies”; Kaci aka “The Homicidal Homemaker” is also a fixture, producing the kind of gourmet, horror-themed treats that have already earned her thousands of social media followers. Our first batch of guests includes Los Angeles promoter Camilla Jackson, Dylan Reynolds (writer/director of 4/20 Massacre), Richard Elfman (Mystic Knights of the Oingo Boingo, Forbidden Zone) and his Scream Queen wife Anastasia Elfman, filmmaker Richard Trejo, and special effects mastermind and SOTA co-owner Matt Falletta.
Josh is the first to admit: “You don’t have to smoke or vape to be a Chronic Horror fan. The show is for anyone who enjoys getting high on horror!”

New DREAD app? That’s right! We’ve launched an ad-based video on demand destination that can be found on the Amazon, Roku, FireTV, AppleTV, and Android TV platforms. New episodes of Chronic Horror will be released Tuesdays throughout October.
Los Angeles area horror fans will also have the opportunity to attend a Chronic Horror Live! event at the Arena Cinelounge in Hollywood on Saturday, November 16th. You’ll be able to meet the cast and crew and enjoy some CBD-infused drinks, all while having a blazing good time! Full details will follow.
