Earlier this week, we released director Stewart Sparke’s Book of Monsters as the latest in our line of DREAD titles. A throwback to the ’80s, where practical FX ruled all and blood and gore flowed freely, the film is an absolute blast and we’re incredibly proud to be a part of it!
One of the big draws of the film is obviously the creature designs. After all, what horror fan doesn’t love seeing a monster terrifying the characters and slaughtering a few people here and there? To celebrate the hard work that went into their creation, we’re going back to the beginning and showing off several pieces of concept art, which you can see below.
The artwork was done by the fantastic Abigail Jill Harding, whose work can also be viewed on Deviant Art. As you can see, the designs are as playful as the film but that doesn’t mean they don’t have a certain amount of malevolence. For as wonderful as they are, the artwork certainly doesn’t hide the fact that these creatures are pure evil and dangerous as hell!
“Sophie’s 18th birthday becomes a bloodbath when monsters descend upon her house and start to devour the party guests. Sophie and her friends must rally together to send their party crashers back to hell.“
Written by Paul Butler and directed by Stewart Sparke, Book of Monsters stars Anna Dawson, Lizzie Aaryn-Stanton, Lyndsey Craine, Michaela Longden, Rose Muirhead, and Steph Mossman.
