For those who keep their eyes on festival darlings, yesterday’s IFC Midnight release of What Keeps You Alive has probably been something that you’ve been eagerly awaiting. A wonderful cat-and-mouse thriller, the film takes a loving couple, adds in a dash of marital strain, throws them in a secluded setting, turns up the heat, and sits back until things come to a boil. And boil they do, with intense and shocking results.
This Friday, Lakeshore Records will be releasing the soundtrack to the film, which was composed by lead actress Brittany Allen. This marks her debut film composition, which sets the stage for her plans to release more original music under Audrey, her middle name. To celebrate everything, we’ve got an exclusive stream of the track “The Chase” from Allen’s original soundtrack.
“Jackie and Jules are a couple celebrating their first anniversary at a secluded cabin in the woods belonging to Jackie’s family. From the moment they arrive, something changes in Jules’ normally loving wife, as Jackie begins to reveal a previously unknown dark side — all building up to a shocking revelation that will pit Jules against the woman she loves in a terrifying fight to survive.”
Written and directed by Colin Minihan (Grave Encounters), What Keeps You Alive stars Brittany Allen and Hannah Emily Anderson.
