Danny Trejo Says MACHETE KILLS IN SPACE is Actually Happening
Outlaw, lover, lone wolf, motorcycle warrior: The no-nonsense antihero Machete was born in the form of a faux trailer that ran before Robert Rodriguez’s portion of Grindhouse, Planet Terror, in 2007. Since then, Danny Trejo has expanded the role two feature films, Machete in 2010 and Machete Kills in 2013. The latter ended with a faux trailer of its own, one that promised Machete Kills Again… In Space would eventually turn the franchise into a trilogy.
No seriously, both Danny Trejo and Robert Rodriguez assured fans they could look forward to the ultimate jumping-of-the-shark with Machete wielding his namesake blade in the vacuum of outer space. Well, that was over five years ago and—nada. So what gives?
Trejo recently told the folks at Popcorn Talk and promises Machete will kill again (in space) but cautioned fans to remain patient:
“I would say that… Robert has his own timetable for doing stuff. I know he’s working on a big movie right now. Robert’s working on it, it’s gonna be… unbelievably crazy.”
He also told Popcorn Talk that Michelle Rodriguez is committed to making Machete 3 a reality, setting us up for some seriously high expectations! As for Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, and/or Leonardo DiCaprio: Don’t get your hopes up!
