DUNGEONS & DRAGONS Feature Film Coming to Theaters in 2021?

After years of legal wrangling over rights, it looks like Paramount, Hasbro, and AllSpark are moving forward on a Dungeons & Dragons feature film. Though we have yet to receive an official announcement, the industry database Production Weekly now states that principal photography on the movie is set to being in mid-2020.

It’s great news for fans of the fantasy tabletop roleplaying game created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson and first released in 1974. Though the game’s popularity has waned in recent decades (most likely due to the advent of video RPGs) the game still enjoys legions of fans and followers. A short-lived cartoon series from the 1980s also has an enviable cult following.

Chris Mckay was attached to direct when the film was being promoted last February, but no word yet on whether he’ll still be the on-set Dungeon Master. Obviously, it’s still in the most preliminary stages, meaning things could change at any moment. Still, you’d better believe we’ll be following this story in order to bring you additional details as they emerge. Stay tuned!
