Start Date & Plot Details Revealed for ZOMBIELAND 2

It’s been almost a decade since we last caught up with Columbus, Tallahassee, Wichita, and Little Rock, but the fearsome foursome from 2009’s Zombieland will be returning for a sequel, slated to hit US theaters in October 2019. In addition to the original cast, Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer will be back in the driver’s seat.

While rumors that the film had been shot in secret and was already assembled turned out to be bunk, we’re getting official news regarding a production start date for Zombieland 2. According to our friends at Omega Underground, filming will kick off on January 28th in Atlanta, Georgia. We also got some interesting plot details:

The group will face a new zombie threat as a new breed of zombie has developed. This new super-zombie type is faster, bigger, and stronger than the previous strain of zombies and harder to kill. These super-zombies have started grouping up into a horde going from city to city leaving a path of destruction behind them.

It’ll be a while before we get any official pictures or a trailer, but we’ll definitely be keeping our ears to the ground in order to bring you all Zombieland 2-related news as details emerge. Stay tuned! In the meantime, you can check out the trailer and synopsis for the original Zombieland below.

Synopsis:
After a virus turns most people into zombies, the world’s surviving humans remain locked in an ongoing battle against the hungry undead. Four survivors — Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) and his cohorts Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) — abide by a list of survival rules and zombie-killing strategies as they make their way toward a rumored safe haven in Los Angeles.
