If you haven’t seen Carpenter Brut’s “Turbo Killer” music video, I highly suggest clicking on that link and checking it out. A masterful example of doing amazing things with serious limitations, the video has generated millions of views for its incredible visuals, fascinating story, and, let’s be honest here, badass music. If you’ve ever found yourself thinking that music videos over the past decade or so have been really awful, this is the prime example to change your mind.
Not content with creating a story that is confined to the few minutes of the music video, director Seth Ickerman and his creative team decided that they needed to flesh this concept out. Enter Blood Machines, a short film created by Ickerman and scored by Carpenter Brut that, “…tells the story of a A.I. escaping its spaceship then turning into a female ghost who will challenge two blade runners to an galactic chase.”
Powered by a successful Kickstarter campaign, Blood Machines stars Elisa Lasowski, Anders Heinrichsen, Christian Erickson, and has a tentative release date of late 2018. Originally intended to be 30 minutes long, the film has far surpassed that and could very well enter feature-length territory if the powers that be see fit to give it such a treatment.
Below is a teaser for Blood Machines, which I must warn you is quite NSFW due to nudity. However, it’s also 100% badass, so it’s well worth saving this for when your boss isn’t looking over your shoulder!
