Global content studio Gunpowder & Sky, along with DIGA Studios and Full Fathom Five, has announced several new cast members for the cinematic adaptation of Jeff Hart’s zombie road trip novel Eat, Brains, Love, which is currently in production. We’ve been talking about this project for a while now so it’s good to see it finally coming to fruition! Read on for the details.

From the Press Release:
Actors Jake Cannavale (“Nurse Jackie”) as Jake, Angelique Rivera (“American Crime”) as Amanda, and Sarah Yarkin (“American Horror Story”) as Cass join the cast of Eat, Brains, Love, which also features Jim Titus (“Pretty Little Liars”) as Tom, Patrick Fabian (The Last Exorcism) as Alastaire, Ty Headlee (Cause and Effect) as Chazz, Kristin Daniel (Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter) as Grace, and Kym Jackson (“American Crime Story”) as Summer.

“Jake is a talented up and coming actor with showbiz in his blood,” said Van Toffler, CEO and co-founder of Gunpowder & Sky. “His parents, Jenny Lumet and Bobby Cannavale, have great acting range and really command the screen; when we auditioned Jake for the role, we saw those exact qualities in him and knew we had found our renegade zombie.”

Directed by Rodman Flender (MTV’s “Scream”) based on Jeff Hart’s synonymous novel and adapted by writing team Mike Herro and David Strauss (“One Tree Hill”), Eat, Brains, Love follows zombie virus-infected high school seniors Jake and Amanda as they run from Cass, a psychic sent by the government to track them down, and search for a cure for their affliction.

Gunpowder & Sky announced that they had signed an exclusive deal with DIGA Studios, an independent production studio founded by former MTV President Tony DiSanto, and Full Fathom Five to develop Eat, Brains, Love in February 2016 and then revealed that writing team Mike Herro and David Strauss had signed on to adapt the novel in August 2017.

The first in a two-part book series, Eat, Brains, Love is touted as a “heartwarming and bloody blend of romance and deadpan humor” filled with laughs, heart—and brains.

Eat, Brains, Love is set to wrap up production later this month.

Synopsis:
The good news: Jake’s dream girl, Amanda Blake, finally knows his name.

The bad news: It is because they both contracted a mysterious zombie virus and devoured the brains of half their senior class.

Now Jake and Amanda (Jake Cannavale and Angelique Rivera) are on the run from Cass (Sarah Yarkin), a teen psychic sent by the government’s top-secret Necrotic Control Division to track them down. As Jake and Amanda deal with the existential guilt of eating their best friends and set off in search of a cure for the zombie virus, Cass struggles with a growing psychic dilemma of her own – one that will lead all three of them on an epic journey across the country and make them question what it means to truly be alive. Or undead.
