Now here’s one I bet you never saw coming. A two-disc special edition of one of the worst movies ever made: Manos, The Hands of Fate. And that’s why the people at Shout! Factory are so awesome.

Manos, The Hands of Fate probably would have vanished into the void of bad film obscurity had it not been for “Mystery Science Theater 3000” making the 1966 horror flick legendary on an episode considered by many fans of the show to be the best of the series. TVshowsonDVD.com brings word that Shout! will be giving the film royal treatment in a two-disc set that celebrates both the movie and the shellacking it took from Joel, Crow, and Tom Servo.

The first disc will feature the “Mystery Science Theater 3000” Manos, The Hands of Fate episode. Disc extras will include something called ‘Group Therapy’, wherein MST alumni Joel Hodgson, Frank Coniff, and Mary Jo Pell relive the horror that was Manos. You’ll also find the wraparound segments from the short-lived syndicated “MST Hour” episodes that rebroadcast the film and an exclusive mini-poster by artist Steve Vance.

The second disc presents Manos, The Hands of Fate in its original format for those that dare watch it without the built-in heckling. Extras on this disc will include two Manos mini-documentaries chronicling the film’s production entitled “Hotel Torgo” and “Jam Handy to the Rescue: A Ballyhoo Production”. In keeping with MST3K tradition, the MiSTified educational short subject “Hired” will be included.

Shout! Factory will release the Manos, The Hands of Fate Two-Disc Special Edition on September 13th, and it will retail for $24.97. Amazon already has it available for pre-order. Place your orders now before the master is informed.
