Friday the 13th Reboot Will Likely Begin Filming This Year

After years of starting and stopping, it seems that a brand new Friday the 13th reboot is finally getting off the ground, and there’s a good chance that Breck Eisner (The Crazies) will be the man sitting in the director’s chair. But when will production actually begin on the Paramount/Platinum Dunes flick? Likely very soon!

Variety reports that the franchise reboot applied and was approved for a $5.6 million credit as part of California’s expanded Film & Television Tax Credit Program. The program offers tax credits of up to 25% of the production budget, and films need to begin shooting within 180 days of being approved.

In other words, Friday the 13th MUST begin filming by the end of next January.

We expect the new film to be released on October 13, 2017 – but that’s just a hunch, at this point.

Aaron Guzikowski (Prisoners) penned the script.
