New Trailer for Boo! A Madea Halloween Will Makes Us All Scream “Help Me, Jesus!”

I’ve seen some people online questioning why in the hell horror sites are covering Boo! A Madea Halloween. Maybe it’s because there’s going to be a disturbing lack of horror options at theaters this Halloween?

Here are your choices this October:

  • Ouija: Origins of Evil – a sequel to a movie nobody over the age of 13 liked
  • Rings – a reboot that has yet to generate an ounce of positive buzz
  • 31 – a Rob Zombie movie that most people will see on VOD rather than in its limited theatrical release

That leaves us with Boo! A Madea Halloween, and as much as many of you may want to deny it, the film looks to include all the stuff horror fans love in their horror movies:

  • Guys in scary masks – check
  • Hot girls in skimpy costumes – check
  • People broken down in the woods – check
  • Masked home invasion – check
  • Poltergeists in the TV – check
  • Scary phone calls – check
  • Practical jokes gone wrong – check
  • Possible ghosts and zombies – check
  • A family of seemingly insane people – check
  • A classic song used to the desired effect – check
  • Self-aware humor regarding horror tropes – check

And, of course, there’s Tyler Perry in drag as Madea herself, who is really just a skin mask away from being a church-going Leatherface. Admittedly, a right cross doesn’t pack quite the same punch as getting gutted with a chainsaw, but Madea’s fists are still family.

Lionsgate dropped the trailer for Boo! just a day after unveiling the admittedly clever Halloween spoof movie poster. Not since Kirk Cameron appeared on the poster for his Saving Christmas movie looking as if he were cheerily poised to annihilate any and all heathens with his holy warrior candy cane of non-secular righteousness has there been a poster for a religious film that filled me with this much joy. I suspect Matt Serafini has already reserved space on his wall for this one.

The trailer, sadly, does not appear nearly as clever as that poster, but it certainly has an undeniable trainwreck quality that all but guarantees I’ll be the one viewing and reviewing the film for Dread Central in a few months. I’ve watched it twice now and still don’t have a clue as to what the movie is actually about other than it’s Halloween, there’s a sexy teen party that’s sure to inspire one hell of a sermon from Madea, and we have a clown and other creatures of the night stalking Madea plus Tyler Perry playing multiple characters in a desperate attempt to out-Murphy/Lawrence Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence movies. See for yourself below.

Boo! A Madea Halloween is guaranteed to be the most horrifying Halloween movie ever, at least until a few years from now when Tyler Perry presents House of a 1000 Madeas followed by A Christmare on Madea Street, Attack of the 50-Foot Madea, Madea vs. Predator, and finally, Madea Goes to Hell: The Final Perry.

This Tyler Perry film – inspired by a joke from a Chris Rock film – is guaranteed to scare the bejeezus into us all, at the very least co-stars Bella Thorne, Cassi Davis, Patrice Lovely, Andre Hall, Yousef Erakat, Lexy Panterra, Diamond White, Liza Koshy, Brock O’Hurn, Jimmy Tatro, JC Caylen, Kian Lawley, and Mike Tornabene.

Boo! A Madea Hallowen will begin bludgeoning viewers with Christ’s love on October 21st.

Synopsis:
In Tyler Perry’s Boo! A Madea Halloween, Madea winds up in the middle of mayhem when she spends a hilarious, haunted Halloween fending off killers, paranormal poltergeists, ghosts, ghouls, and zombies while keeping a watchful eye on a group of misbehaving teens.
