Welcome back, kids!

Those you who’ve been following the strange and tragic saga of Julia Starchild have read about some wild rises and heart-crushing defeats.  This was, of course, the name of the game in fantastic filmmaking of the late 70s. But now we shift into the 1980s for Julia’s most celebrated film, Battle Beyond the Planet Of Ice.  Scroll to the end of this posting to see the original lavish poster created by Avco Embassy Pictures in the summer of The Empire Strikes Back.

Battle was the most lavishly produced of the Starchild series, boasting a budget well north of 9 million dollars, and an outrageous storyline that even managed to trade on some of the iconographic imagery of Empire. They also reheated the old SENSUUROUND system used for Earthquake and Battlestar Galactica to give this wild ride its thundering, unforgettable boom-crash-wow factor.

And it was the final film to feature Julia Starr as the title character.

And no, these films never really existed in the actual world.

But they do here, in the world of Shock Festival.

Please enjoy the Battle . . .
