Vampiric Attacks in New Zealand Bloody Up The Gasp Menagerie

It’s looking like a town in New Zealand came across a brief culinary craze that the residents are happy to see go.

Each other.

Two of the voracious eaters were female, the third of unidentified gender, but within the space of a couple of evenings three people were viciously bitten in separate incidents.

Napier, a bayside town, saw three seemingly unrelated attacks happen in a short time.  In each case, a fight broke out, and someone was bitten badly enough to draw blood.  In one case, the victim lost so much blood he had to be hospitalized.

Stuff.co.nz reports that the first attack was part of a family dispute a few days prior to the other two.

The second and third attacks happened on the same night.  One was a fight among three women, where one woman bit the ear of another badly enough to require medical attention.  The other occurred when a woman intervened in a bar fight between two men.  In that case, her bite hit a major blood vessel and the man was hospitalized due to loss of blood.

What’s going on Down Under?  Is there an outbreak of vampirism?  Are the undead coming back to life and feeling hungry for the flesh of the living?  Have residents decided they’d like to sample “long pork” and are taking chunks out of their enemies?

Have a weird story? Potential evidence of the supernatural, or at least something hard to explain? Spot any creepy critters out there roaming the wilds? LET ME KNOW! I’d love to talk about it and possibly write it up right here in the Gasp Menagerie. You’ll get appropriate credit, of course, and everyone else will get fresh creepy (as opposed to fresh Creepy, which, trust me… nobody wants that) to enjoy. As always, I can be found at mrdark@dreadcentral.com. Now get out there, find some weird, and let’s get this party started.
