Back in 2014, we all lived, died, and repeated thanks to the sci-fi flick Edge of Tomorrow, which saw Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt battle an extraterrestrial invasion. The film did well enough both domestically and internationally, particularly internationally, that a sequel is in the works, and we’ve got the first details.

Per Deadline, writing duo Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse (Race) have been hired to pen a sequel to the Doug Liman-directed Edge of Tomorrow, and Liman is set to return to the director’s chair. Both Cruise and Blunt will also be back.

Erwin Stoff and Tom Lassally will produce. Christopher McQuarrie, who wrote the first film, is in talks to board as a producer and is developing the script with the writers.

In Edge of Tomorrow, a military officer is brought into an alien war against an extraterrestrial enemy who can reset the day and know the future. When this officer is enabled with the same power, he teams up with a Special Forces warrior to try to  end the war.

Stay tuned for more.
