Latest Update on The Last of Us Adaptation Is Not Good News

A feature film adaptation of the video game The Last of Us has been in development for a couple years now, with Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckman penning the script. At the present time, it’s been well over a year since we last got an update on the project, and there’s a reason for that. Read on.
Speaking with IGN, Druckman revealed that the adaptation is essentially dead in the water.
“I know I said in an interview a while back we had a table read, got the script to a good place, and it kind of entered development hell like these things tend to do,” he said. “There hasn’t been any work done on it in over a year and a half.”
Last we heard, Maisie Williams (“Game of Thrones”) was going to be playing Ellie in the film.
The Last of Us centers on the unlikely pairing of a young girl and a hardened scavenger in a post-apocalyptic world.
