The Etheria Film Night Invades Days of the Dead Convention

The folks behind one of the best damned film festivals in the country, Etheria Film Night, are bringing their special brand of horror to the Days of the Dead convention in Los Angeles. If you plan on attending, you’d better listen up!

Join us at Days of the Dead – Los Angeles Friday, April 1-Sunday, April 3, 2016. We’ll be there with an Etheria Film Night shorts screening and a separate directors panel celebrating women horror directors. Etheria Film Night is the leading showcase of new genre films directed by women. Our Etheria directors and friends will be signing at the Etheria table all weekend long so come visit and support female horror film directors… and also Kato Kaelin!

Etheria Shorts Showcase: Saturday, April 2, 1:00 PM in The Screening Room
The Etheria shorts showcase on Saturday, April 2, at 1:00 PM, is 83 minutes of awesome new horror directed by women. It begins with the trailer for the new feature film B.C. Butcher, which was shot on 16 mm in Kansas Bowling’s father’s backyard in Topanga Canyon, California. B.C Butcher stars Kato Kaelin and features Rodney “The Mayor of Sunset Strip” Bingenheimer.

Zone 2 (Anna Elizabeth James) (8:00)
David, a blind teenager who uses a wheelchair, has never known life outside of an underground bunker. As he attempts to assert his independence, his mother tries to keep him safe from the horrors of the world above. It’s a story about the lengths some are willing to go to protect their loved ones.

A Tricky Treat (Patricia Chica, 3:10)
A horror comedy starring Leonard Waldner, Steve Brewster, Andrea Fletcher, Keira McCarthy, and introducing Marco Reilly.

From “Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s” Amber Benson comes this twisted, darkly comedic, genre-bending tale of revenge. A revenge of the worst kind – Shevenge!

A dark, coming of age thriller about a 16-year-old misfit named Maddy who lives alone with her grandmother in a small town in Texas. When Maddy crosses paths with an older, charismatic Stranger – a fellow misfit who’s passing through town – her quiet, monotonous life takes a dangerous turn.

As Human As Animal (Kristina Klebe, 5:00)
In this brooding existential glimpse into human nature, Hank (Diamond Dallas Page), a lonely man with a dark past, is haunted by memories of the choices that led him to the shadowy, desolate place in which he is now forced to live.

Substance (Barbara Stepansky, 16:00)
An innocent mix-up leads to disaster when two girlfriends encounter an extraterrestrial substance at a winter music festival.

Found (Rebekah McKendry, 5:00)
A mockcumentary that reveals the modern day origins of found footage horror films.

Carved (Mary C. Russell, 12:00)
A short film about a soul that comes from within an inmate. This spirit starts possessing people.

Etheria Directors Panel: Saturday, April 2, 3:00 PM in Main Panel Room
At 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 2, join us in the Main Panel room for a discussion about Etheria and the amazing women directors in the horror genre today! On the panel will be directors Kansas Bowling (B.C Butcher), Anna Elizabeth James (Zone 2), Patricia Chica (A Tricky Treat), Amber Benson (Shevenge), Chloe Okuno (SLUT), Kristina Klebe (As Human As Animal), Barbara Stepanksy (Substance), Rebecca McKendry (Found), Mary Russell (Carved), and special guests Jackie Kong (Blood Diner & The Being) and Rena Riffel (Astrid, Showgirls 2: Penny’s From Heaven). The panel will be moderated by journalist and film author Alyse Wax (Shocktillyoudrop.com, Curious Goods: Behind the Scenes of Friday the 13th: The Series).
