Watch John Fitzpatrick’s Voyeur Starring Jordan Ladd
Last month we brought you director John Fitzpatrick’s short We Always Come Back, and today the Los Angeles filmmaker dropped his latest on us, Voyeur, which stars Death Proof’s Jordan Ladd.
The second film in his “Scary Endings” short series, Fitzpatrick told us of his inspiration for the two-minute fifty-five-second Voyeur (which in addition to Ladd also stars Ryan Dillon and Michael Osborne), “It came mostly from the mind of one of my producing partners, Brian Chandler. He and I were spit-balling ideas one afternoon, and he mentioned how creepy it would be if you picked up your family camera and started scrolling through the pictures and slowly saw images of yourself you didn’t take, only to discover someone had been following you.”
As for working with Ladd, who is well known to genre audiences for her turns in Cabin Fever, Grace, and Hostel: Part II, “She’s fantastic,” effused the director. “What’s great about her is she cares about every part of the process. She wants to understand why the writers wrote something a certain way, and on set, she wants to understand the shot selection because she brings with her an understanding of movies as images, music, and performance. She wants to see the full vision, not just her part – and I think that level of caring makes a film that much better. The harder the shot is, the more that is required of her, the harder she pushes to make it the best it can be.”
With plans to release a new Scary Endings short once a month, Fitzpatrick teased of the next installment, “It’s a bit of a paranoid thriller about a woman who is trying to escape from a strange man who is following her home from work every night. Uncovering the truth of who he is makes her confront something about herself she never imagined. It will release the first week of September.”
