Amber Heard and Odette Yustman Peddle into Darkness
All the Boys Love Mandy Lane beauty Amber Heard will be teaming with Odette Yustman, last seen running around in her panties in The Unborn, for the thriller And Soon the Darkness. Without a single frame yet shot, I am prepared to declare this the best looking horror film of the year.
The Hollywood Reporter broke that news that the two gorgeous ingénues will be starring in this remake of a 1970 British thriller.
A remake? The hell you say? Of course it’s a remake. Hollywood ain’t down with new ideas, you know.
And Soon the Darkness tells the chilling story of two American girls on a bike-riding excursion in a remote part of a foreign countryside. When one goes missing, the other must find her before darkness falls and her worst fears are realized. The original was set in France. This version will be set in Argentina, where it will be filmed.
Studio Canal is co-producing and co-financing the film. Amber Heard will also serve as a co-producer, her first time as a producer. Commercial helmer Marcos Efron makes his feature film directorial debut.
The original And Soon the Darkness is said to tackle the ideas of how vulnerable a stranger in a strange land can be. Being that this is a Hollywood remake, don’t be surprised if the main ideas focus less on themes than on jump scares and foot chases.
But one thing is for certain: Even if the movie ends up being Turistas on bikes, it’s still guaranteed to be a great looking film.
