Lucifer – Tom Ellis Gets His Horns

The devil’s getting his due this morning as Deadline is reporting that Rush star Tom Ellis has been cast as the title character in Fox’s comic book drama “Lucifer,” written by Tom Kapinos and directed by Len Wiseman for Warner Bros. TV and Jerry Bruckheimer TV.

Wiseman will direct the “Lucifer” pilot and executive produce alongside Kapinos, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Jonathan Littman. KristieAnne Reed co-executive produces. Warner Bros TV is producing with Jerry Bruckheimer TV and Kapinos’ Aggressive Mediocrity.

The TV series centers on Lucifer who, bored and unhappy as the Lord of Hell, resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals. This is a slight change from the original synopsis, which had Lucifer heading to LA to open an exclusive piano bar called Lux with no police work involved.

Stay tuned for more as it comes.
