A high-flying thriller just landed on the Netflix charts. This 2012 anxiety-inducing film is the #1 genre entry on the streamer. Our new king is called Flight and has a lot to discuss.

In the film, a pilot heroically saves most of the passengers during an emergency landing. However, the investigation into the incident uncovers some disturbing secrets.

Flight is directed by Robert Zemeckis and was written by John Gatins. It stars Denzel Washington, Nadine Velazquez, Don Cheadle, Bruce Greenwood, and Melissa Leo.

The film is very loosely based on Alaska Airlines Flight 261. A plane carrying 88 people experienced some mechanical failure. The pilots did everything they could, but unfortunately, the plane crashed into the Pacific Ocean. There were no survivors of that plane crash.

According to John Gatins, the maneuvers the pilots executed to keep the plane in the air as long as they did inspired the heroic landing in Flight
