Rest in Peace: Lupita Tovar

If you’re at all familiar with the Spanish version of Dracula that was filmed simultaneously with the Bela Lugosi version, then you know exactly how good it was. Dare I say it… it was an overall better film than the one featuring the great Bela. That’s why we’re sad to announce the passing of its oldest living star, Lupita Tovar.
Tovar, who played Eva Steward in the 1931 Spanish-language version of Dracula, has passed away at the wondrous age of just 106, according to a Facebook post from her niece Lucy. Lupita also graced our genre once more in the Spanish language remake of The Cat and the Canary, entitled La Voluntad del Muerto.
