Vantage to Remake Lake Mungo

I detected some rumblings about Lake Mungo during AFM but have yet to hear anything as to whether or not it’s any good. The Aussie film, which premiered under Darclight at AFM, is now being remade in the States by Paramount Vantage, according to THR this morning.

The story is about a teenager whose apparent death triggers a series of paranormal events. Her family soon discovers some pretty dark secrets about their daughter and what lurks beneath the titular lake. Though the Aussie version was done faux-documentary style, the U.S. redux will apparently be a straight narrative.

Vertigo will be producing the remake alongside original director Joel Anderson and creator Adrian Guerra. We’ll keep an eye on this and let you know when we have more on the original and/or the redux!
