Valentine Redux Finds a King
Though one has to question the necessity of a My Bloody Valentine redux, especially one shot in 3D, I doubt anyone would argue that the casting of Jaime (Sin City) King is a good idea, if nothing else because she's so very easy on the eyes.
The Hollywood Reporter got the word this morning that King will play the lead in the Patrick (White Noise 2) Lussier-helmed remake, a girl named Sarah, who married the nemesis of her high school sweetheart. When she’s reunited with her ex-lover, it becomes clear she’s still carrying a torch for the guy. She’s part of the mayhem when a folk tale about a Valentine’s Day killer becomes real.
I said it before and I’ll say it again; as long as the 3D is used as more than a cheap gimmick, we could be in for a fun little film. Given the glut of 80’s slashers remakes of late, though, it sure would be nice if they gave Lussier something original, instead. They’re all starting to blend together to me.
Shooting is set to start up on May 12th, with a January 23rd, 2009 release planned. Keep it here for more soon!

NEXT STORY
This morning The Hollywoood Reporter has a story that, continuing the recent trend set up by Richard Kelly’s adaptation of The Box for the big screen, Summit Entertainment has begun work on another “Twilight Zone” tale to be translated to film: Countdown.
