UPDATE: Ashes No Longer Trapped!

Trapped Ashes on DVD!UPDATE: Lionsgate has just released the DVD specs for Trapped Ashes to Fangoria!. Expect to see "director’s cut" versions of Monte Hellman and Ken Russell's stories. There will also be a "Making Of" featurette, deleted scenes and cast/crew commentaries!

The joint directorial effort of Sean S. Cunningham, John Gaeta, Monte Hellman, Ken Russell, and Joe Dante known as Trapped Ashes (review) was one of the very first things I got to report on when I started here at DC. A film about a group of people getting stuck in a horror set and each having to recount a personal terrifying tale in order to escape sounded badass. Then the film disappeared.

Would it get distribution?

Yup, and all thanks to Lionsgate! On July 15th the film will be out on store shelves for everyone to behold. Too bad it didn't get a wide theatrical release outside of some film festivals.

No artwork or special features are available at this time, but expect them to show up soon. No doubt this kind of flick is going to have commentaries for each story and hopefully interviews with the directors.

Why not watch it and decide for yourself? I'm just saying! I may see it.

Thanks Andrew, you've ruined my hopes. All these years I've waited and now you just busted the fantasy.

Aside from the Ken Russell segment, I LOATHED this movie. Just terrible and pretentious in every way.
