The Weinsteins Like Sheep
Man, the Weinsteins are just everywhere these days, aren’t they? Variety is reporting that, in their second team-up with IFC, the brothers' company has nabbed the release rights to Jonathan King’s indie horror/comedy Black Sheep for the U.S.
IFC will put the film out theatrically through its First Take label, and the Weinsteins will handle the DVD side of things through Genius Products. At least with IFC behind it we can be relatively sure it’ll get a decent art house release if nothing else, and Genius has been pretty good with its genre discs to date, so perhaps this is just a win-win for all involved.
Black Sheep is the story of two brothers on a New Zealand farm who run into all sorts of trouble when their genetically modified sheep go apeshit and develop a taste for human flesh. Just like when I was a boy...
