Summit Starts the Countdown

This morning The Hollywoood Reporter has a story that, continuing the recent trend set up by Richard Kelly’s adaptation of The Box for the big screen, Summit Entertainment has begun work on another “Twilight Zone” tale to be translated to film: Countdown.

Originally aired during the 1963 season as “Death Ship”, Countdown is the story of a group of astronauts who land on a planet where they find a crashed ship and corpses that eerily resemble their own. Now they’ve got to figure out what the hell is going on and deal with the reality that they may already be dead.

Richard Matheson was responsible for the “TZ” episode, of course, but director Michael (Wanted screenwriter) Brandt will be adapting the story for the screen with writing partner Derek Haas. Production could ramp up as soon as this summer, so keep it here for more info soon!
