Spreading the Curse Through Tag

Universal nabs TagI have to admit, though the concept is cool, there wouldn’t be much drama if this happened to me; I’ve got more than enough people I’d like to pass this on to.

I refer to the curse of Tag, a comic written by Keith Giffen with art by Kody Chamberlin, which The Hollywood Reporter is announcing today has been scooped up by Universal for a feature film. The story of Tag begins with a man, having just gotten into a fight with his girlfriend, as he is strolling down the street. A stranger touches him and says “Tag”, thus passing on an ancient pagan curse.

Soon the man starts to quite literally die, rotting before his very eyes, and must either surrender to it and let the curse stop with him, or find someone else to pass it on to. Like I said, I’ve got a nice big list of potential victims, so bring it.

Boom! Studios were responsible for the series; you can check out their site here for more info. Creator Giffen is best known for his work on the 30 Days of Night: Bloodsucker Tales series. No word on who will adapt the story for the screen, but Boom! heads will be co-producing.
