SDCC 08: Spooks on the Big Screen!

Spooks on the big screen! Now here’s something we didn’t expect to happen so soon. Ryan Schifrin’s comic book series Spooks (official forum) is going to be hitting the big screen!

Our guys covering the San Diego Comic-Con phoned in with the news. Barry Joesphson (Enchanted) is set to produce, but a director ad cast has yet to be announced.

Spooks, published by Devil’s Due, takes us into a world plagued by supernatural baddies, and only one super secret government agency can deal with them: S.P.O.O.K.S. The first we saw of Spooks came in the form of a four book mini-series, but coming soon the action will be continued in a second series called Spooks: Omega Squad.

Now the question is, what part of the Spooks universe will be making the cut? All I know for sure is the production should really bring on Jack Baker to do the FX!

I can't call them terrible, but I've seen better. The Omega Team was a pretty good stand alone story. Very cinamatic, should make for an interesting movie.

And what's wrong with the combination of Hellboy and GI Joe? The comic will make one entertaining action/creature feature in my opinion.

Nothing if there was actually something to take away from. Instead it's like a Michael Bay movie on page. A lot of bad one liners, a lot of bad puns, cliche characters, plots that go nowhere, and monsters that look great and nothing more. It's a terrible rip from GI Joe and Hellboy with none of the substance. It's going to be the same thing on film.

Terrible comic book series. It's just GI Joe and Hellboy combined. I do not look forward to the movie.
