Reeves Buries Constantine
Bad news came down this weekend for anyone who was looking forward to a follow-up to Constantine (review), the big screen adaptation of DC/Vertigo's "Hellblazer" comic. Well, it's bad news for people who wanted to see Keanu Reeves in the lead role at least.
IESB was in attendance at a Street Kings junket and asked the Mr. Reeves if he'd be appearing in a sequel to 2005's Constantine. He responded that "despite planning it at one time, a second go-round as John Constantine wasn't something he'd be interested in doing anymore."
Luckily a sequel really doesn't depend on Reeves, and there are plenty of other actors who could easily fill the role of John Constantine ... and maybe for the better.

Yeah, Bettany's a great choice, too. I just thought Laurie was perfect for Constantine's black wit.

Sounds like they talked to Reeves' publicist instead of to Ol Chief Woodenhead himself.
If they do make a sequel, it's time to do what they should have done before and hire Hugh Laurie as Constantine.

Constantine is a guilty pleasure, but I would prefer a reboot with something a bit more faithful to the source material.

Who needs a sequel?
What we need is a reboot with a better creative team. While Tilda Swinton and Peter Stormare were fantastic, the rest of the first movie was mediocrity personified.
I say try a FAITHFUL adaptation. What a concept.
