Re-Animator Series Planned
I’ve heard rumblings that someone out there might be bringing Dr. Herbert West back to horror fans in one capacity or another, but never did I imagine it would be as a teenager. And before I go much further, allow me to sum up in one word how I feel about this entire concept; Ugh.
Bloody Disgusting learned that a company called Transition Entertainment are shooting a pilot episode for a show they’re calling “Herbert West: Re-Animator the Series” (crafty title, that) which will see the good Doctor as a teenager at Miskatonic University, playing with life and death while balancing a relationship with a fellow student. I reiterate; Ugh.
The pilot was written by Meredith Red & William Butler; I couldn’t find out if it’s the same William Butler who wrote all three Gingerdead Man movies, but I’m guessing it probably is. I also couldn’t find anything about a company called Transition Entertainment, which means they could be new to the game and this is what they’re starting off with.
Hit up the B-D link above for a full casting call breakdown to see just how badly they’re planning on bastardizing H.P. Lovecraft’s world (it will have it’s own Jay & Silent Bob, for the love of Cthulhu!). Say it with me, kids; Ugh.

The first pics of Nic Cage and Ron Perlman in Season of the Witch showed up on Moziplussz recently, neither of which reveal much other than the fact that they’re both wearing a shitload of armor. Looks very warm.

I prefer breaking with tradition and saying "Guh".

The general consensus of fans I've spoken with is, "Ugh, why?"
The Lovecraft name joke was already done in Beyond Re-Animator and it wasn't funny then either.
The other odd thing is that they're using two characters made famous by Jeffrey Combs, but he probably won't have anything to do with this series. Here's hoping they at least give him a cameo, to remind people who the original Herbert West and Crawford Tillinghast were and who made them such iconic and memorable roles.

I think a Jeffrey Combs cameo would be a bad idea. It'd be like when they put an image of Darren McGaven into the opening of the new Nightstalker series. It just reminded everyone how awful the entire endeavor was with someone else in the lead role. Double guh.

Here's hoping the shelf life on this will be just as short.

True, you're absolutely right. It just bothers me that Jeff wouldn't be involved in some manner with characters and a franchise that he made famous.
A lot of fans are crying b/s on this. I'm hoping they're right and this is some late (or early) April Fool's Day joke.

Ugh. I don't even want to know. I've just about had it, gosh darnit! *Runs to the open window and sticks head out* "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!!"
