Olguin Off to Prom, Grave?

Jorge Olguin offered Prom Night, Open GraveIt must be both a frustrating and exciting time for Sangra Eterna helmer Jorge Olguin. His creepy-sounding ghost story, The Call of the Sea, which is being produced by Guillermo del Toro, is set to finally start shooting this April; but his big budget U.S. debut, the adaptation of the popular survival horror game Clock Tower (last word on that was here), has been delayed until the middle of the year.

Perhaps Clock Tower will have to wait even longer, however, as Twitch Film has learned that Olguin has been offered the director’s seat for both the remake of Prom Night and NALA Film’s Open Grave, information gleaned from the Chilean newspaper La Tercera, who did an article on the man in their latest issue.

Though I’m sure it’s nice to be in demand like he is, the balancing act of figuring out which project will be next and making sure you’ve got enough pre-production time for them all has got to be a headache. Of course that’s a headache any young director would pay good money for, so hopefully he’s not complaining.

Obviously it’s not known if he’ll be jumping on either film yet, but hopefully we’ll hear something official soon about both. Prom Night is the oft delayed redux of the classic Jamie Lee Curtis slasher while Open Grave (which we first told you about here) tells of a man who wakes up in a pit full of corpses with no memory, unable to determine if he is a would-be victim or the killer himself.

Stay tuned for more as we learn it!
