Minnow Causes Horror
Though I’m not familiar with either producer’s past work, Variety is reporting this morning that Jennifer Chaiken and Sebastian Dungan have joined forces to create a new production shingle called ’72 Prods, which will both acquire and develop films and one of the first films on their slate is a horror movie. Have to respect that.
Written by Josh Miller and Mark Fortin, the scary flick is called Minnow and follows a mother who is tortured by the angry spirit of her dead child. Is it just me or does that sound a little bit fucked up? As if the poor woman weren’t suffering enough having lost her child, now she has to deal with his essence being psychotic.
They’re also developing a film that might have a horror spin on it called Venom, based on a soon-to-be-published novel by Heavy Metal and You author Chris Krovatin, about a Manhattan teen who deals with his angst by entering a comic book world created by his own imagination. Lots of things can happen in comics, up to and including scantily clad women, so I have to say that’s a damn fine plan.
We’ll have more for you on both films as they develop!
Ponder if you’ve produced anything in our forums!
