Masters of… The Emmys?

As Dread Central’s resident awards show junkie, it’s only appropriate for me to report that among all the mainstream winners announced during last night’s Emmys telecast, one of the horror genre’s own was previously recognized on August 19th when the Creative Arts Emmys were handed out. Edward Shearmur won the Emmy for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music for his contribution to Showtime’s Masters of Horror.
Born in London, Shearmur attended Eton College and was a one-time student at the Royal College of Music. With a classical background that includes singing in the choir of London’s Westminster Abbey at the age of 7, Shearmur composed the scores for Reign of Fire and The Skeleton Key, among many other films, and has also worked with rock artists as varied as Annie Lennox, Pink Floyd, Marianne Faithful, Echo and the Bunnymen, and Eric Clapton.
