Legion Director Takes Over Priest
The long-gestating adaptation of the Tokyo Pop comic Priest is finally seeing some movement this morning. THR reports that Orphanage co-founder Scott Charles Stewart will be taking the reigns on Priest, with the backing of Screen Gems.
The Brood penner Cory Goodman wrote the script, which is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between humans and vampires. The story follows a priest who turns his back on the church and goes rogue to track down the band of vampires who kidnapped his niece.
If the project sounds familiar, that’s because it came this close to being made by Amityville Horror remaker Andrew Douglas with Gerard Butler in the lead back in 2007, so close there was even a release date of August 17th, 2007 in place at one point.
Stewart’s directorial debut is the apocalyptic thriller Legion, which currently has a release date of January 22nd, 2010, but don’t hold us to that.

Gold Circle Films has tapped the writing/directing duo behind Deadgirl (review) to update the Danish thriller Murk (Mørke) according to THR. Marcel Sarmiento & Gadi Harel will both write and direct the Murk update, which sounds like it’ll be another polarizing film for the team.
