Leerhsen Talks Living Hell

Erica LeerhsenWhile visiting the set of Fox’s upcoming direct-to-DVD sequel Wrong Turn 2 (full set report is on its way … believe me, it’s better than you think), I got to chatting with star Erica Leerhsen, whom you may recall from Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 or, cooler than that, 2003’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake.

While we were there to discuss Wrong Turn 2, she mentioned that she just finished up work on Richard Jeffries’ Living Hell, one of the set of films being produced by Dark Lot Entertainment and Media 8. Erica was kind enough to discuss her character in the film as well as divulge some minor plot points I had not heard before:

"My character is the one responsible for letting this thing out, so she gets a lot of Sigourney Weaver from Alien moments," she told me. Erica plays Carrie Freeborn, a military wife who is unexpectedly given the hero role when a deadly organism is unleashed on a military base. "She starts the whole thing and is not your typical action hero, and then she has to try and stop it."

"[Co-star Jonathan Schaech] knows that we shouldn’t open this box that we’re going to open, and he comes to warn us. His father is the one who created this experiment and it’s implanted in his character’s body, so he’s got a natural immunity to this creature." She explains, "He’s this very tortured guy, but my character is not; she’s just forced into this situation. She ends up leading him out of his pain in a way. There’s a really well written scene towards the end with these two characters connecting, which ends in a very cool blood smearing moment. I can’t wait to see how that comes out. It should be very sexy/scary, which is always a good combination!"

Indeed it is, especially when that sexiness is coming from Leerhsen, who looks just as good covered in blood as not. We’ll have more on both Wrong Turn 2 and Living Hell in the coming weeks, so don’t move!
