Japan Finds Paranormal Activity

Paranormal Activity goes to JapanBecause we’re such fans of Oren Peli’s “>Paranormal Activity round these parts, it’s only right we keep you as up-to-date as we can as to what’s going on with it. Hot on the heels of the big news a few days back about it being sold ‘round the world, word came down via Variety this morning that a deal has been struck with Japan that could see local-language sequels.

Japan’s Presidio Corp. won the mini-bidding war for the film and will try to have it in theaters the same time over there as it comes out over here. They’re also planning on putting together a consortium of companies to work out Japanese-language sequels, which is one of the strangest and yet coolest ideas I’ve heard to date. Hey, at least they’re not remaking it.

Speaking of which; it should be noted that the Variety article states Paranormal Activity will be out here in the U.S. through Paramount sometime next year, but not a word is spoken about the proposed remake that started this whole thing off. Could we actually be getting lucky and not seeing the film redone for no good reason? Here’s hoping!
