In Loving Memory of Filmmaker Joseph Dodge
Every filmmaker, no matter how small, leaves behind a legacy. The same goes for indie writer/director Joseph Dodge, who tragically passed away this week in his hometown of Detroit, Michigan. As a fellow fright geek, Joe contributed regularly to the horror community and co-directed the award-winning indie feature The Secret Life of Sarah Sheldon, as well as last year’s festival short Burial Party.
In his memory, we at Dread Central have posted Burial Party for all to see. It’s a fascinating example of a budding filmmaker, and a recent review from Film Threat ended with these prophetic words:
”If this is the last thing he ever does... well, it’s quite a mark to leave on the world of short film.”
Rest in peace, Joe.

Like a lot of other 360 owners out there, I love Gears of War. The game was violent, beautiful and featured a gun called the Lancer with a Goddamn chainsaw attached! Where can I get me one of those?

I had the pleasure of knowing Joe and really liked him as a person and a director. Hillary and I greatly enjoyed working with Joe and Annette on "Dead Run", "The Secret Life of Sarah Sheldon", and "Burial Party", as well as hanging out at the Tonga Hut over a few cold ones! Joe will be remembered and is greatly missed by us both.

It's so strange to think I was joking around with Joe at Fango no more than 5 months ago. I just can't believe. Rest in Peace, good sir.

I only met Joe for the first time earlier this year, but he was an amazingly nice, energetic guy. Rest in peace, man.

It was a pleasure meeting you briefly, brother man. Wish it could have been for longer. God speed.
