Frontière(s) Returns
Last week we noticed that Xavier Gens' Frontière(s) went missing from After Dark Horror Fest's final roster of films that will start playing nationwide on November 9th. It was a pretty sad turn of events simply because the movie was about Neo-Nazis and extreme gore.
Turns out that the film was just too much, to be more precise ... the NC-17 rating was too much for After Dark. The highest rating they accept for films is R according to the festival's head Courtney Solomon during an interview with Fangoria.
All is not lost, though. Solomon also informed Fango that Frontière(s) will still be hitting theatres, untouched, "with a separate NC-17 or unrated release in January 2008."
Honestly, would you rather see this film cut down to a R or just wait a few months for the full experience? This does seem to be the fate recently of Gens' theatrical releases; Hitman won't be saved from the cutting machine as it is trimmed down to get a PG-13 rating. Sad, sad, sad.
