In other casting news, seems more and more people are jumping at the chance to be near Kate Beckinsale in her new Antarctica-set thriller, Whiteout, based on the comic series of the same name by Greg Rucka.
Columbus Short (Save the Last Dance 2, Stomp the Yard) will move his nimble feet onto the set, portraying a newbie pilot who becomes Beckinsale’s ally during her investigation of the continent’s first murder. Alex O’Loughlin (Man Thing, The Invisible) will play a cocky pilot whose antics get him into some shit with the authorities.
Beckinsale and Tom Skerritt are both set to star in the whodunit, which you may recall takes place on the frozen continent of Antarctica, where Beckinsale will play a U.S. Marshall investigating a possible serial killer, determined to find him before the continent goes dark for six months. Joel Silver is producing with Swordfish helmer Dominic Sena in the director’s chair. Filming is under way as we speak!
