Dread Central & After Dark's 8 Shorts to Die For Contest!

SUBMISSIONS ARE CLOSED! CLICK HERE TO VOTE FOR YOUR FAVORITE SHORT FILM!

We’ve never been shy about our appreciation for After Dark Films and their annual 8 Films to Die For festival, but this year we decided to take that love to the next level and really help get the word out about the next festival. How, you ask? By giving stuff away, of course!

Dread Central has teamed with After Dark Films for the “8 Shorts to Die For” contest, the doors for which swings open today and will run through December 15th, 2008. Readers are invited to submit their own short horror film, no longer than 3 minutes in length, to the Dread Central team during that time frame. Then, on December 22nd, 2008, submissions will close and the voting shall begin!

The filmmaker with the best short film will win a 120G Video iPod preloaded with 4 of the 8 Films to Die For from Horrorfest 2007 (specifically Mulberry St, Unearthed, Nightmare Man and Tooth & Nail)! Seven runner-ups will receive an all-access pass (or eight tickets) for Horrorfest® III, which runs this January 9th–15th, 2009!

Fans will be allowed to vote on all the approved entries with the Grand Prize being selected among those films with the most votes by our panel of judges, which includes former Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, Screamfest LA head Rachel Belofsky, After Dark president Courtney Solomon, and Perkins' 14 producer Beau Genot!

Before you enter, please be sure you read through the 8 Shorts to Die For official rules; all entries will be screened by Dread Central staffers before they’re posted publicly so be sure your film is in compliance with our guidelines for consideration!

GOOD LUCK!
