Dafoe Joins Cirque du Freak

Dafoe in one of his other vampire roles, Shadow of the VampireI have to give it to the makers of Cirque du Freak; they sure managed to get an amazing cast to work with. Since the movie, an adaptation of the books by Darren Shan, was announced, names like John C. Reilly and Salma Hayek have jumped on board.

Today various sources are reporting that Willem Dafoe has joined the list of thespians in Freak, playing a vampire in the travelling freak show that a young Darren Shan (the main character's name, not the author...) finds himself entangled with when he must become the bloodsucker's assistant in order to save his best friend's life.

The books have been incredibly popular, and it looks like the film's going a long way to get asses in seats with a cast like this. Cirque Du Freak is due out sometime in 2009; keep it here for more goodies as they come down!

There's just something ... off ... about that movie. My main issue's with the cinematography, although there are some pretty serious problems with the pacing and the script.

But, one man's trash is another treasure, and all that. What do I know?

Malachi, I can't believe I'm saying this, but you've smoked too much weed. SotV was an amazing film! And the commentary is one of my all-time favorites.

Here's hoping it's better than Shadow of the Vampire.

I used to love this book series. Only read the first 3 though.
