Why remake Child’s Play? I mean, seriously, the first movie was pretty damn good, especially for a movie about a killer doll. According to producer David Kirschner, ”We’re going back and remaking the first one and even pushing it further and making a very terrifying version of the first one, which is pretty scary as it is.”
This comes from a recent chat Ryan over at STYD had with the producer, who also revealed that they’re working on a special 20th anniversary edition DVD of the original for release in the first quarter of 2008. No more solid plans are in place for the remake, but they’re definitely going forward with the idea and they’re definitely keeping Chucky animatronic. Thank God for small favors.
