Bush Stopped House of Re-Animatior?!

Dubya more scary than Herbert?!For those who were looking forward to the return of Herbert West as the Re-Animator, you may want to put that dream on deep freeze for a while. It looks like the fourth installment in the series, House of Re-Animator, won't be going anywhere.

Why is that? People just don't want to pick it up, and director Stuart Gordon believes it has something to do with George W. Bush. As Gordon told Fangoria today, "We could not find funding for it; I think people are still too afraid of offending the Bush administration. I mean, here’s Re-Animator, which is a very successful franchise, but nobody wanted to do that story. People are definitely afraid. These guys are known for payback. Everyone is just counting the days until they’re out of office."

Not to argue with Gordon, but Bush takes plenty of hits from showbiz all the time. Maybe there's some other reason why people aren't taking a chance on it?

Oh well, at least his other H.P. Lovecraft project, Thing on the Doorstep, should be shooting sometime this summer, and his "based on a true story" thriller Stuck will be hitting theatres on May 30th.

If "Lil' Bush" somehow gets on the air, I don't see how this movie couldn't get made. That show doesn't just offend Bush, it offends people with any shred of humor.

I'm sure producers might get cold feet over a movie like that, but I doubt it'd be something no one hasn't seen already in the last 8 years. Hell, Mark Millar had Magneto make a Bush-like president into his pet in Ultimate X-Men.

Man, Gordon has done some great movies, but he suffers from BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome) in a bad way. Yep, nobody will finance an anti-Bush movie. After all, that's why Oliver Stone just announced casting this week for 'W', his big-budget Bush movie. Knowing old Ollie's politics, I'm sure that'll be a sweet little love letter wrapped up in a perfumed bow.

Stuart. Dude. It was a lousy idea for a movie. Rule #1: if your story will be culturally irrelevant in two years, so will your movie.

"very successful franchise"?
I thought the last one premiered on Saturday night on Sci-Fi. Truly the mark of a still great franchise.

That's almost as lame an excuse as reading Oliver Stone proclaim the failure of "Alexander" occurring because of people's bias's against homosexuals.

As much as I wanna see this, that's a lame excuse.
Unless secret service agents stormed Joe Dante's house after "Homecoming."
