Bush Stopped House of Re-Animatior?!
For those who were looking forward to the return of Herbert West as the Re-Animator, you may want to put that dream on deep freeze for a while. It looks like the fourth installment in the series, House of Re-Animator, won't be going anywhere.
Why is that? People just don't want to pick it up, and director Stuart Gordon believes it has something to do with George W. Bush. As Gordon told Fangoria today, "We could not find funding for it; I think people are still too afraid of offending the Bush administration. I mean, here’s Re-Animator, which is a very successful franchise, but nobody wanted to do that story. People are definitely afraid. These guys are known for payback. Everyone is just counting the days until they’re out of office."
Not to argue with Gordon, but Bush takes plenty of hits from showbiz all the time. Maybe there's some other reason why people aren't taking a chance on it?
Oh well, at least his other H.P. Lovecraft project, Thing on the Doorstep, should be shooting sometime this summer, and his "based on a true story" thriller Stuck will be hitting theatres on May 30th.
